The filmmaker confronts stuttering through personal experience and support groups. Much of this baffling disability, like an iceberg, is not obvious and brings with it anxiety, depression and self esteem. These symptoms, especially low self esteem, are rarely treated effectively in speech therapy. “The Way We Talk” is the work of Salem, Oregon filmmaker Michael Turner that has been attracting large special interest audiences.
